Hi,

We are looking at getting some work done in our garden which involves an electrician. We think the quote (from a recommended tradesperson) is a bit on the high side, so was wondering what the usual hourly rate for a qualified electrican is?

Any ideas?

Thanks

They don't really work on an hourly rate basis IME so can't give you an indication of that as I have always had the job priced up IYSWIM?

However, one of my best friends is an electrician in Surrey so if you give me the general idea and time you think it will take I can ask him for you. Have you got a quote from company or independent?

Hi Ewe,

Thanks for the offer of asking your friend.

The job would involve putting lights (including laying cable under the ground) putting transformers in and putting right the shoddy work that had been previously done. They are estimating that it will take 3-4 days.

The quote has come from an independant electrician that was recommended to us.

Thanks for your help.
