I seem to have a habit of putting my size 7s in it!!!!

today a friend of dh phoned and we started talking about the recession - he is a property person and i am a property lawyer. I told him I was thinking of starting my own firm and that things were not good at work ( which they are not!).

We comisserated and talked mutual woes for half an hour and then concversation ended.

Dh got a text from this friend half an hour ago:

" You'll never guess who I'm sitting next to at a party - lisalisa's boss. Weird coincidence isn't it?"

My dh panicked and texted back that he shouldn't tel him anything of the conversation otherwise I could get teh sack( I am still employed although situation very precarious).

We received no reply until 20 mins later when the friend's wife emailed to say

" Truly and deeply sorry but M receievd this message and left his phone with the message on out on the table whilst he danced and it appears lisalisas boss more than glanced at it and may have been able to read it".

Yikes and crapola............What to do???!!!!!

Just by way of background party is of a dinner party type with dancing where you are seated next to table mates all nigth so amp[le opportunity for them to get talking.......

I think that is utter tosh and that they told him.

PillicockSatOnPillicockHill · 01/03/2009 21:32

i mean WHO reads someone elses texts???

phones have backlights that go off after a second so reading it inadvertently nigh on impossible

fishie · 01/03/2009 21:35

or maybe they are telling truth and the phone was on table. hopefully boss couldn't read it.

homicidalmatriach · 01/03/2009 21:45

Do nothing, say nothing - he either didn't read it or he did. Most likely they all got pissed and nothing will be remembered in the morning.

flimflammum · 01/03/2009 21:51

Maybe you will get sacked, start your own firm, it will be a brilliant success and you'll be glad he saw the text.

OK - back at work and he did sit next to my boss - the ultimate managment partner here.

M's wife was telling the truth and it appeared that he did glance and then screw his eyes at phone as if trying to read osmehting. However wife quickly swiped it away ( she says) and man partner was very polite and civil this morning and said he enjoyed the party and meeting M and his wife who spoke highly of me and my dh etc iwth no trace that anythign at all could be wrong. So hopefully all ok and false alarm there!

It would have been extremely rude of your boss to read someone else's text message.

Sounds like he didn't, though, which is good news!
