I've developed a new habbit - how can I stop it?

I've started winking at people.

It started with the window cleaner when I paid him.

Then it was DD's nursery staff when I was saying good bye, and shop assistance.

I need to stop - but how?

I find i physically impossible to wink.

So I do it on here all the time

Please stop.. I had a manager (female) who used to wink all the time. Think she meant it in a friendly, barrier-breaking way, but it FREAKED ME OUT each time (we're talking several times a day).

Sorry that's not much help is it??!

Don't blink at all??

To stop any such habit, simply wrap a tightish elastic band arond your wrist, everytime you unwittingly perform the undesirable behaviour, 'ping' the band against your wrist, works like a charm.

MinnieMummy...baybe she was a lesbian and fancied you?

Not that I fancy the window cleaner - he's gross! (Or anyone else I've winked at actually)

WhereTheWildThingsARe - can I do that to my DC's - I need to stop DS2 picking my his nose - or would someone report me to SS?

Sarah Palin did it in the US presidential election a lot.

Very off putting.

I suggest you develop a sort of code word in your head. Every time you want to wink you need to condition yourself to say something neutral but friendly.

A sort of ready made verbal 'wink' if you feel the urge.

MinnieMummy · 28/02/2009 15:31

She did it to everyone, not just me! But as she was my direct line-manager and she didn't have any other subordinates I got the brunt of it.

Possibly I might be overly anti-winking as a result...
