I'm doing my first childrens party for my 4 year old daughter.
I wondered where I can buy nice party bags, not plastic. I don't want to spend a fortune as I need 20. If you have any ideas I'd be greatfull.

I got some on ebay that were nice paper sacks with handles and you could get them in almost any plain colour. You could decorate them if you want.

mummyloveslucy · 15/02/2009 20:42

sounds good, what would I search under?

Hi mummyloveslucy

I found some at my local office/catering supply stall that was out on an industrial estate but I live abroad so no point in posting those details ...

This company sells a wide variety and possible to buy in bulk to last for years to come??? :

Or how about these (more expensive though):

Hope your little girl has a lovely party!

I went to a deli at my local railway station and asked for a load of take-away sandwich bags (the brown paper ones)

Then coloured in pictures cut out from a cute colouring-in book and stuck them on the bag

V Cheap (well, free ) and cheerful

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 15/02/2009 21:13

I made some from fabric scraps - if you cut out with pinking shears you only need to do one l-shaped seam and they take about 10 seconds each!

How about

i bought the bags off ebay. just searched for white paper bags with handles...

EldonAve · 15/02/2009 21:14

I got some from party pieces
most party shops will sell the paper ones

helsy · 15/02/2009 21:16

This was recommended on MN as a Christmas shopping site. Has lovely paper party bags - never used it myself (yet)

notnowbernard · 15/02/2009 21:17

The lovely man didn't want me to pay for them

But insisted instead on a donation in his charity box

captainpig · 15/02/2009 21:17

sorry, try again

helsy that is a gorgeous gorgeous website. i love their stuff. have bookmarked it - thank you!

MilaMae · 15/02/2009 21:25

I've used Helsey's link Jelly and Blancmange-very good.

The bags were lovely quite cheap too. They altered the lables for my sisters twins too to "Thankyou for coming to our party".

Her stripy bags were really sweetshop bags though. I had the bags with handles. Think I had neutral for the boys and fushia for the girls-fitted a lot in.

helsy · 15/02/2009 21:26

Mmm. Now I've remembered it I think I'll be using it for Dd2's party in May!

MilaMae · 15/02/2009 21:38

I love the jelly bags bit steep though,it's a shame the moulds are out of stock.

They did these lovely wooden boats £1 each which we had and white chocolate mice. I got wooden fairy finger puppets elsewhere for the girls-they were very popular bags.

They decorated biscuit wands( biscuit cutter stars on lollypop sticks from Party Pieces) which we put in cellophane bags which then got put into said party bags with a few mini marsh mallows. Very cheap bags

Party Pieces do tiara shaped biscuit cutters now. Just used one for DD's 4th. They iced them, then put on jelly diamonds, jelly tots and silver balls. They looked very effective even if I do say so myself . They're great as they form entertainment and party bag filler in one go!!!!!

mummyloveslucy · 16/02/2009 12:17

Wow! Thank you for all your responses.

I've found some lovely ones and some nice things to go in them. I've put some of the sights on to favorites too.

I'm looking forward to doing my first party, it's a bit scary though.

mummy loveslucy - which ones dod you get and what are you putting in them ? [nosey emoticon]!

weddingdress · 16/02/2009 20:51

I got plain white sandwich bags from e-bay, along with a selection of stickers and the children decorated the bags as an activity at the party, then I filled them with junk goodies for them to take home.

mummyloveslucy · 16/02/2009 21:41

I havn't ordered them yet but they're the ones that look like little handbags, they are really pretty.
I'm putting in them fairy bubbles from elc, they are really pretty, some sort of chocolate and sweets and a piece of birthday cake. Is that enough? The bubbles are lovely.

I really like the idea of them decorating the plain party bags too now.

mummyloveslucy · 16/02/2009 21:43

Oh and I could put a balloon in too. They will be taking home a haelium one from the party.
