How do you keep baby dry in close baby sling?

Can someone please offer me advice on the best way to keep DS dry in close baby sling when it's raining/snowing?

I have Muddy Puddles waterproof all in one coat for my sling carried baby. I can't fit him under my coat and have to push buggy as well so umbrella is out.

Either: buy big waterproof coat, and do it up over both of you; use an umbrella; or buy a baby wearing coat which has an insert to make room for both of you.
