Hi, we're moving to Sheffield in a few month's time and I'd really like some advice on stuff like good areas to live in (we're currently looking at areas near the university, S10+11 I think), good nurseries (and how much they charge), good state schools, and things to do with an almost 2-year old.

I believe there are a lot of Sheffield mumsnetters around, hope you see this, I'd love to hear from you!!!

47 bedrooms, which you are not allowed to let to students?! Surely that one's excepted from the covenant!

ok, then I can admit to going to SHS coz our paths wouldn;t have crossed - I was there 78-89.

Now I feel old, you started there when I left.

Was Miss Lutz still head?

hatsoff · 14/04/2005 20:30

yes, and Miss Lucas. Miss Lutz - now Mrs Whittington-Smith - regularly goes to the same church as my Mum. My mum gives me a rundown on her latest Jaegar outfit. Where in the Peak District did you live? I'm from Grindleford

Not sure there is going to be much of a market in student properties soon in Sheffield. There are so many of the new student apartments around, all en suite, with games rooms,e tc. And have you seen the big one they are building near Bramall Lane - the Forge??? Going to be able to house well over 1000 students.

We did a lot of nursery research last September and the daily cost came out between £25 adnd £32 for around the city centre.

Hi hatsoff, Such great news, glad to hear about "Mrs Whittington-Smith". Miss Lucas was such a harriden, but my father used to charm her with shameless flirting, which eased my career through the school no end.

We lived just outside Hope village, 1/2 a mile down the Edale Road. I miss it like mad, went back to Hope Show last year, which made me want to move back.

Are you still in Grindleford then? For years I had a boyfriend who lived in Calver.

Sorry everyone for the hijack.
