Is this a scam ? I've just had a call claiming to be from a Steven Smith of the Accident Investigation Bureau, asking for me by name and stating that I had had an accident in last 3 years . When I said no it must have been another family member. We are on Telephone Preference and no number on 1471.

"Ring off now or you will regret it"

Wait fifteen seconds.

Referee's whistle down the phone. We keep it handy for the purpose.

And don't tell me about the poor guy on the phone being just as much victim as anyone - he is not.

Hi there - today is 6 July and I just had a call from a bloke with a strong accent saying that someone from this number has had an accident in the last 2.5 years.

So - they are still active. I told him I don't know how to drive.
My number shouldn't be listed anywhere as i don't really use the landline - it just came with the internet.

Please be careful as this scam company have got more sophisticated. I reported an accident to my insurance company and by the next day I’ve already had 3 calls despite call guardian. They claim you will get £2,500 no fault compensation. They now say the information was passed to them through the national insurance “portal” and give a UK contact number (LOL) I will be making a complaint that my insurance co has broken the new privacy of personal data law, reporting to Fraud and to Trading Standards. Not that it will do me any good ... v worried about people falling for this scam . Take Care Out There!
