Oh my God, what a heartbreaker. I had read that this was an "uplifting" film so naively expected a happy ending to cheer me up. I logged on expecting to see a thread about this already. Were you all too busy watching ER?

hi woozle.
It was really sad i was in tears, I too thought it would have a happy ending, found it confussing on some parts with the little boy, what did you think?

woozle · 19/03/2003 23:07

I thought the little boy was the mum thinking about what the Consultant said - "imagine your little boy aged 7 playing happily in the garden" She lived his life in her head and imagined all the things she would do with him.

God - I'm on the verge of tears again...!

I thought it was just wanted someone else to confirm in my head. Just makes me realise sometimes how lucky I am, even when my two are playing up.
I am new to this mumsnet, but am loving it

have just read that, It must be hard to deal with and although it was only a film, it must be quite similar to real life, in the ups and downs of it. Must be hard not to get your hopes up. sobernow, did you say your child/s were premature?

Glad everything has worked out for you. my sister had twins early, but they were quite big at 5lb something, my dd was 6lb7oz and myds was 6lb8oz, they were overdue.
But my cousin lost her baby to pre-eclampsia, they didn't act quick enough at the hospital I think anyway, My dd is 4 and my ds is 3.

scorpio

scorpio · 19/03/2003 23:49

don't know just enjoying my time when the kids are asleep, and my dh is always on it. What about you then! ha ha

I've said this on the BetweenTwoEternities thread, but the book makes things much clearer, as it's told from the baby's viewpoint. It's quite different from the film, but really keeps you guessing right to the end.

Haven't blubbed so much at a tv prog since.... the last episode of Cold Feet. What are those telly people trying to do to us at the moment??

KMG · 24/03/2003 18:35

I started crying about 10 minutes in, and didn't stop. But I loved it - I love a sad ending - I find it very unsatisfactory when "they all live happily ever after"!
