somewhere my fussy snobby sister wont turn up her very turned up nose to!

not a chain
somewhere with a bit of finesse that doesn't cost the earth
somewhere we can pleasantly pass short amount of time

Am open about areas, will be around oxford st area but anywhere fairly central is fine..

c'mon help me before the hives arrive! it's our bi-decadely meeting, give me one less thing to be sniped at about

i is begging..

tia

Hmmm........swanky often/usually involves alcohol.

Take a look here and see if there is anything suitable?

Not Oxford Street, but two locations - one in Belgravia and one in Chelsea (both of which should be swanky - but not exactly children's havens)...

NQC
she is a character
i will have to listen to all my failings voiced loudly for all to hear...
am only doing it for my parents really, they have this strange idea that she will be lonely once they are gone.....

dh stated today that this was his best christmas present come early (she cancelled coming here but said she could meet monday)! he is busy tomorrow, i am on my own well, with ds of course!

lol at losing a bet!
never mind that, I've definately got the short straw here!

Can you try to see her as a character, literally? Mentally take notes, and either write it down for yourself, or (better still!) come and tell us about it?

lucasnorth · 21/12/2008 20:03

John Lewis and Selfridges both do alcohol I think.

I like Cafe Vergnano - I think it's a small chain but I've only ever seen two. There's one on the main road (sorry, pregnancy brain) that crosses Shaftesbury Avenue at Cambridge Circus; it's between Cambridge Circus and Leicester Square tube. They do the BEST hot chocolate, and great coffee. But a little out of your way, unless you're coming down Regent Street anyway.

LOL@losing a bet. It's not that far from the truth .

Swanky and just off Sloane Square - think they might serve alcohol though...

Also, not a place for rambunctious children - I'm sure yours are well behaved........

crikey some great places here you guys.. wish i was meeting a friend..
am keeping note of them too for happier times lol

i can only see her as a character NQC, a tragic one from a mike leigh film most of the time..
we were close as kids but even then she would smash my head in a closing door and put mustard on my chips..
more lately .. you dont love your kids if you dont send them to private school..you must try and make more money, how can you possibly live there? ....
there is so much more i wont bore you!

i genuinely feel sorry for her, was looking up nasirsisstic personality disorder (as you do) the other day and it seemed to fit and I truly feel for her
she aint happy and nor never will be i fear
her friends are bullies and blowhards, albeit rich ones
