From Mummy to Mum

I was just having a conversation with my sil and we were discussing how our children sometimes call us Mum instead of Mummy. Both my ds (5) and my dd (3) mix the two, although I think dd is just copying ds, and we were wondering is 5 the transition stage from Mummy to Mum, when did your little darlings make the change?

weird! my dd from 20 months just started shouting mum... and now i am mum... very rarely mummy... it sounds very funny from a little tot shouting mum at me when we're out... i think it's cos dh always calls me mum as well!!!

Slight tangent to the original question though I think I became Mum at around 3 years old to both DD and DS. DD, not so long ago, called out to me by my first name, and burst out laughing when I instantly responded. She said that I kept ignoring her when she said 'Mum'. I guess they are not the only ones with selective hearing! She uses that tactic quite often now and I have to admit it does work.
