Title says it all really!!!

Dh went ahead with 2 of our kids - I'm flying tomorrow wiht the rest. Dh had bright idea of him taking all the suitcases on basis that I would have less to carry ( I'm flying wiht 4 of them). Unfortunately one suitcase has gone missing wiht dd1's clothes and ds2's clothes. Ds2 is quite easy to replace as he's just 3 yrs and I'll head to Adams after work and bung £100 at them to replace his wardrobe - few tops and trousers that typoe fo thing.

Dd1 however is 12 and teenage!!! I need to replace her wardrboe fast after work. I live near Brent Cross if that is any help in making recommn edations. To make it worse she only wears skirts ( religious reasons - won't bore you with details) although v trendy - loves denim etc. No minis though so H and M out this season as its all microscopic mini.

hjelp - where cna I get dd1 a wardrobe in an hour or so after work for about £100 ????

H&M?

spicemonster · 17/12/2008 15:51

How about zara? Or Oasis? Alternatively Fenwicks has lots of little boutiques - Oasis, River Island and some trendier bits so you might be able to get a mix of stuff.

I don't envy you - Brent X is going to be madness

hippipotami · 17/12/2008 15:51

H&M!

spicemonster · 17/12/2008 15:52

Am I the only person who read the OP?

cmotdibbler · 17/12/2008 15:52

Primark or New Look are good for trend on a budget.

christmasiana · 17/12/2008 15:53

by the way do you have travel insurance? should give you more compensatin

also airline should offer compensation on lost luggage
where did DH go, maybe can buy nice stuff there too?

HeadFairy · 17/12/2008 15:54

It's tough, most skirts are quite short these days aren't they. Could you get a selection of tops from Next and then you may have to hunt around for longer skirts, Marks and spencer?

cestlavie · 17/12/2008 15:55

Brent Cross has a Zara and a Top Shop in it - I'd go for those. If I was braving Brent Cross I'd also be packing a shotgun and taser to make sure I was out by Christmas let alone later this evening...

bamboostalks · 17/12/2008 15:55

You could try some of the adult skirts in m and s, i know per una is not to everyiones taste but they do a big line in long skirts.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 17/12/2008 15:56

Can you ring the airline and see if they know when the case may turn up at your destination? Sometimes they will know where it is and it will be coming on a later plane.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 17/12/2008 15:56

Did you pack all the clothes you own?

Surely you have some bits at home you can pack until the suitcase turns up?

Lemontart · 17/12/2008 15:58

I saw a few longer denimy ones in our M and S the other week. Maybe your local M and S will have some. Do you have a Mackays near you - DD1 got a slightly sparkly dark denim flared long skirt there about 3 weeks ago. Really nice. Next is great for tops, bottom halves are more likely to be jeans and leggings though (or the mini skirt - which I agree is everywhere this year)

Would she wear dresses? could get a nice teenage party one in Monsoon for Christmas day. Not many teenage skirts there but they have some nice dresses

lisalisa · 17/12/2008 15:59

cestlavie - if I hide out there till 10.00pm ( when it closes) it shouldn't be too bad!!!

Silly dh forgot travel insurance and asked me to do it online which I did but they would only cover us from my flights not for same date flights . thank goodness nothing of real value there but very tempermantal teenage dd who has accumulated these clothes slowly and painstakingly.

Fenwick boutiques good but eye wateringly expensive.

Think Zara, M & S and Top Shop are best bets. Primark and New Look great but no Primark near me - will try new look though. She's a bugger of a size too - not quite an 8 and most shops don't do size 6.

she doens't wear long skirts - just knee lenght rather than mid thigh etc

get everything in H&M except skirts
Primark and New Look

get leggings to go under tunic tops if they are 'skirty' enough

lisalisa · 17/12/2008 16:02

Thanks everyone - truly appreciate the number and helfpulness of posts. lemontart - in M & S did you see denim in kidswear or adults? need to be quick and don't have time to run around as flight to catch!!!

We did pack more or less everything she owns, yes as dd very fussy and only has about 8ish skoirts and about same number of tops and 2 or 3 sweatrshirts that she rotates pretty regularly ( she is in uniform at school so no need for much during the week). Also all her shoes were in there - groan.

Re Primark - do they actually do skirts this season that are not mini? If so I could ditch Brent X and head to wembley - is totally different direction and don't want to waste time but several people have said primark and there is an adams next door where i could do ds too. Does anyone know?

There's a TKMAXX, not far from Brent cross shopping centre, you might be able to ppick up some cheap but trendy things there?

spicemonster · 17/12/2008 16:51

Oh yes - tkmaxx is a good idea and there is a massive dotty P next door so that might be good? Or there is a matalan not far away ...

I wouldn't bother with Primark. Have been in there today and they had very little for 12yr olds and all of the skirts were minis.

i know its not an answer to your clothes problems but Dh flies frequently and his missing suitcases nearly always turn up after 24 hours. they will find it at the airport where you transferred

and next time rememebr to cross pack the cases [hindsight emoticon]

spicemonster · 17/12/2008 17:08

My suitcases have always turned up within 24 hours too so you could just buy her an outfit and take it from there. Can you buy clothes where you're going too?

FIMBOingaroundtheChristmasTree · 17/12/2008 17:09

I know you don't want H & M but they do have a 50% sale on some stuff. I got ds a lovely jumper for £3 and a disney cars top for £3 today.

Kristingle · 17/12/2008 17:14

mid length skirts here in top shop

maybe not the animal print one though

dont waste your time in Next - most of the skirts are too short or too young. unless she likes flounces and embroidery
