There was a great thread about writing that very sadly got deleteted. There was lots of tips about where to publish articles, getting in touch with agents etc. It seems there are quite a few of us who write, and would like to earn an income from it.

Currently, I'm writing a children's story and am about half way through it. I was wondering at what stage can you approach an agent with your sample three chapters and synopsis? Is it best to wait until the book is complete so that the whole book can be requested if the agent likes what he/she sees. Or, will an agent still take you seriously if they know that half of the book is still to be written.

Any other ideas about how to get your book read without it ending up on a slush pile for months on end gratefully received. As far as i remember from the last thread there were a couple of you who were pretty well informed about publishing etc

Why did that thread get deleted? Was there a row on it?

no, there was no row - someone just needed the thread deleted. I too miss the information that was on it.

emmaj, I made a list of agents for children's books and IIRC I noted details of what each agent wants to see - 1st chapter, samples etc, whether they accept unsolicited ms, addresses etc. It was prepared from the latest writers and artists yearbook and is on my old PC, which is being fixed, but I can email it to you if you want it (when I've got the old machine back). If you would like it (it's in Excel) my email is [email protected] - I miss that thread too!
