Sending mail to China (PRC) but how to address the envelope????

I would like to send a parcel to a friend in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. I have the address in the correct chinese characters but can anybody tell me if that is all I need to put on the envelope? DO I need to put the English addy on for the benefit of our Royal Mail or will they know from the Zip Code?

Any advice gratefully received.

You can do either - send with address in English or in Chinese characters.

If you send in Chinese, be sure to write CHINA (or even P R CHINA) at the end so that our postmen know where to send it first. Then when it's in China they'll be able to read it. But you can just write the address in English and the clever Chinese folk will still deliver it.
