Ok, DS2 has recently started nursery and having advised the Tax Credits office they have given me my new award details which i think are wrong - they seem to be paying me quite alot. I don't know anyone else in RL in the same situation as us so i thought i would see what info/feedback i could get on MN.

2 DS in nursery and our average childcare costs are £136.00 per week.

DH works full time and i work 22.5 hours per week. Our annual income is approx £37k

Tax Credit want to pay me approx £335 per month which to me seems way to much considering we only got £38 or so per month when we only had DS1.

I have asked them to double check the figure and they still say they are right but i dread them wanting a huge amount back sometime in the future.

I would be really grateful if anyone else in a similar situation could let me know approximately what they receive.

Many thanks

what age is ds2 as you get extra when they are under 1 year

We get about £420 p/m. 2 children (over one year) in childcare costing approx £30 p/w. Annual income £20k.

It sounds like yours could be right tbh.

Have you recently gone back to work? Have you had your paperwork through and checked that every detail on there is correct? Have they told you what your payments will be for next year?

Well both my DC are in nursery which costs around £200 a week whilst DH works FT and I work PT. Our annual income is very slightly more than yours yet we are'nt entitled to anything so how they work it out is a mystery - but if they have doubled checked it it must be right.

noonbear I've run your details through our calc at work and I would say your award is wrong. It was coming out at about £52 pw (or £63 if your DS2 is under 1) which is only £252 max a month.

Are they basing it on a much lower income?
