Do you think your children will rebel against YOU?

As a natural born lurker I have been watching some interesting threads over the last few weeks

It sounds like so many posters have such strong views about what their children must and must not do, what they must and must not see, what they must and must not ingest

Can't help wondering how our children are going to rebel against us?

I think mine may well become either accountants (to contradict my slightly hippy tendencies ) or preachers (I'm atheistic) or Tibetan monks (I think I'd quite like that one )

yes, there will be a whole generation of rebellious children, all insisting on eating turkey twizzlers, watching telly all day and boycotting organic food, fags hanging out of the corners of their mouths, whilst staying up all night.

i think my dd's will take me quite literally when i tell them to be independent, by taking off trekking the himalayas for mths on end

or they will become maths teachers

I had a fun time corrupting kids at school . . .

we have discussed this lightheartedly over the years and now i am expecting my first child it has become an open topic again.

we are convinced our child/ren will be ultra boring just to annoy us. we have strong 'hippy' tendencies and dp is a musician so we are surrounded by musos and poets and the like. i have some friends whose children are so cool it is unbelievable. their daughter who is early 20's took her gran travelling round Mexico last year!

we are terrified our children will listen to dire music, have no interest in literature and be awful brats.

lol but then i don't think my mum and dad were too happy with how i turned out during my teens so i guess it would be karma!!!

As a mum I am pretty lazy, can't cook, don't keep the house very tidy, frequently run out of essentials like fruit and milk etc etc. But hey, Ds (17) has rebelled against my slovenly ways and is the complete opposite. RESULT!!! (Wish I could say the same about dd(12))

lol Mud I keep saying that dd is going to rebel by being an accountant too. Mind you I shant complain as long as she insists on keeping her parents in a style to which they could easily become accoustomed

I have a friend who is very Bohemian, kept irregular hours and mealtimes, was very haphazard about sending her kids to school, etc.

Two of them are now police officers!

Mine won't be able to rebel against both dw and I. I'm a reformed metalhead/goth and dw is reformed gangsta rap/ragga gyal. If they rebel, they'll have to become librarians!

Fully expect dd to turn to religion, be born again and take up banking. Only because i would be delighted if she started up a career as a garage DJ and moved to Amsterdam on her 16th birthday with her girlfriend.

DH and I are very boring and conventional and dh hates to travel esp fly (much to my frustration) so I fully expect dd to take off round the world at the earliest opportunity! - maybe I could go too!!!

And what is wrong with accountancy
