I did - in Caribbean. Was fab and less than £10k.

mosschops30 · 07/12/2008 20:39

I wouldve done and shouldve done Cyprus

Hulababy · 07/12/2008 20:41

I did in 1998. We got married on a small safari park not far from coast in Kenya, at Shimba Hills. It was lovely and very private and intimate. They didn't do weddings all the time, so were didn;t feel like a production line or anything, which I was very keen to avoid.

Curlylox · 07/12/2008 20:42

We did Mauritius. It was fantastic, the weather, the staff who couldn't do enough for you, the hotel everything was great (sigh)

itsamiracle · 07/12/2008 20:44

tuscan hills, italy. just perfect.

tiredemma · 07/12/2008 20:45

Majorca

Hassled · 07/12/2008 20:47

Amalfi Coast, Italy (specifically Ravello.

We didn't actually marry there but thought about it. If it could have been abroad, it would have been there.

francagoestohollywood · 07/12/2008 20:48

I would probably fancy getting married in NYC (any excuse to go there, really)

francagoestohollywood · 07/12/2008 20:48

Oh gosh Ravello is just amazing

BitOfFun · 07/12/2008 20:50

Venice is what we have promised ourselves when we can afford it

choosyfloosy · 07/12/2008 20:51

I would have chosen Italy - I think the residence requirements aren't too bad, and it is so beautiful in every way.

This is a random website I only googled it so it's not a recommendation, but their stuff starts at 2000 euros - i guess it could go a long way beyond that!

My sister is about to start planning her wedding. They are planning on a ceremony in Vegas.

eidsvold · 07/12/2008 21:30

I got married in Aus - on a the top of a hill with bushland surrounding us.

PavlovtheCat · 07/12/2008 21:31

Sri Lanka. Don't know how much, but sure its not tooo expensive?

DaidiNaNollag · 07/12/2008 22:16

Positano in Italy. My colleague got married there and had a fabulous time and the photos were out of this world. If you do this and have bridesmaids, I'd strongly advise you to dress them in blue!

saggyhairyarse · 08/12/2008 12:15

We got married at the Triton Hotel in Sri Lanka. Was bloody fantastic if I do say so myself

We booked through Kuoni and it cost about £2500K for the 2 weeks holiday and wedding etc.

we got married in turtle bay beach club in Kenya and it was great. The wedding package is quite cheap but it is a beautiful setting.

smurfgirl · 08/12/2008 20:17

I would have done Cyprus had we gone abroad. Its beautiful, its affordable and its reasonably near. There is a lot of accommodation choices and so your guests can stay in cheaper hotels near by which makes it more accesible.

Nissi Beach Hotel looks amazing.

saggyhairyarse · 08/12/2008 21:34

Oooooo, we went on holiday to Iberostar Paraiso del Mar Mexico and that was a gorgeous hotel and the weddings looked amazing.

southcoaster · 10/12/2008 22:37

Got married in Sicily in November 2005 ... BEAUTIFUL!!!

MrsSeanBean · 10/12/2008 22:46

These ideas all sound lovely, but is under 10k considered reasonable nowadays?! Our wedding cost about £100 a few years ago (not abroad obviously!)

BananaFruitBat · 10/12/2008 22:50

Got married in Crete. The whole lot cost a little less than £1,800, and that includes the holiday, legal documents, dress, suit, etc.

That was 7 years ago though.

noiamnot · 10/12/2008 22:52

italy

Hulababy · 10/12/2008 22:54

Our fortnight in Kenya, mini safari, wedding package on another small safari inc overnight stay and meal, etc., internal flights, and excursions was less than £2.5k in 1998

Ewe · 10/12/2008 22:56

I would get married here.
