6 is uncle Quentin
25 is Frank McCourt
26 Paradise Lost
28 Miranda
36 Sebastian Faulks
45 Miss Havisham

will keep trying but that's my first shot!

WideWebWitch · 11/03/2003 11:34

If your answer to 24 is right then 23 is Ian Fleming

Gem13 · 11/03/2003 11:41
  1. Twelfth Night
  2. Lord of the Flies
  3. Miss Haversham
Bumblelion · 11/03/2003 11:42

Thanks so far - will keep checking this site (in between preparing a new presentation!!) for your very kind answers. Thanks so much - am very impressed with your answers.

OP posts:
Lindy · 11/03/2003 11:44

39 Lord of the Flies
1 Dylan Thomas (wild gues)

sorry, can't think of any more!

kaz33 · 11/03/2003 11:53

8 Mr Knightely

lucy123 · 11/03/2003 12:01

3 is Mr Toad (Wind in the Willows)
7 is Arakis
9 is the Unseen University
37 is Jane and Michael Banks
45 is Miss Faversham (I think. picturing the film now)

Your answers are mostly corect, I think, but Milton did not write Under Milkwood (that was Dylan Thomas) - can't remember what he did write though. Also I think the chocolate bar with the golden ticket was just called the Wonka bar.

emmakate · 11/03/2003 12:02

3)Toad of Toad Hall (i think!)

Bumblelion · 11/03/2003 12:22

Lucy123, thanks for the correction on Milton but the chocolate bar is most definitely Wonka's Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight - just about summarises my reading capabilities!

Double checked it on this web-site

www.roalddahlfans.com/books/char.php

(not sure how to do links)

WideWebWitch · 11/03/2003 12:30

Isn't the Milton one Paradise Lost then?

lucy123 · 11/03/2003 12:30

righty - I must be thinking of the film. What are these for anyway?

lucy123 · 11/03/2003 12:31

www. - yes it is Paradise Lost (it was definately in my brain somewhere). And me an English teacher.

prufrock · 11/03/2003 12:36

43 is Dickon

Bumblelion · 11/03/2003 12:36

Lucy123, it is for my daughter's school - family quiz and you win a book token (wow!, yes, just one prize). It is for all family and friends to enter and I just want to give it the best shot I can. It says you can use friends, libraries, internet, etc. to find the answers so I thought the only place I would bother asking/looking was Mumsnet.

I think you are right about the book ~v~ film. The film was called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (for some reason Charlie was was thought to be a racist name) and the chocolate bar in the film was the Wonka Bar but I need the answers for the books, rather than the films.

Thanks.
