Complaining about food poisoning

Really fed up today should have been at crufts with our little dog, spent 5hrs yesterday (that I dont have spare!) trimming, grooming and bathing her. Went to bed feeling sick and woke up at 2am with violent gastro-enteritis. There was no way I could drive 3hrs- wouldnt have made the first loo's! Point is, I'm convinced it was from KFC at lunchtime. My chicken smelt a bit odd and I didnt eat anymore once I noticed but didnt complain as v.busy plus kids there plus odd to complain about a smell. Kids all fine today but ate different things to me. Would really like to complain, not only huge inconvenience to me, but next time might be child that gets ill. Anyone know who to? Local council?

I think it's your local council - do they have an enviromental health department?

This link from the Food Standards Agency allows you to enter your postcode to find out who to complain to. It's important to complain if you do suspect you got your food poisoning from a particular place so they can trace similar complaints and hopefully prevent anyone else becoming ill.

Good luck! Hope you feel better soon, too.

I have to say, I refuse to eat KFC any more after being ill once.

I've been pretty sick from a mcdonald's hamburger once too - unfortunately I haven't learnt from the episode!

miggy - it probably was the KFC. I was violently ill for about four days after having KFC almost twelve years ago and have not had it since.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Is the offending chicken still in your dustbin? If so, retrieve it so that it can be tested otherwise all the environmental health people can do is inspect the premises.

Be warned that some types of food poisoning also mean that Environmental Health will come and inspect your own kitchen to advise on hygiene practices. My mum once picked a bug up from something she'd eaten when out but had to have her kitchen and fridge inspected.

I was ill twice after eating a Mcdonalds big breakfast. I didn't touch one for years after then next time I did I was ill again.

I would complain to enviromental health and also to kfc.

miggy most of my family , and we are spread throuhgout the uk have had a 24 hr vomiting "bug " at some point in the last 2 weeks. It is getting a bit of a joke that as we call each other up someone else has been added to the list.

OK I have to hang my head in shame and apologise to KFC- they are on this occasion blameless! 16 of us had a mums lunch on friday with takeaway thai food, found out today that 12 of us were ill, sat night/sun am- so that narrows it down a bit. Only thing is, had already complained to env.health Oops! Will have to grovel a bit!

Just change the complaint to that of the thai restaurant!
