I imagine this get's 'done' every Easter on here.. but I am new since then' and can't be arsed to search.. too knackered.. sorry.. so please humour me and tell me what the hell to construct for DD to wear on her head next Monday! Sigh. Last years effort was a paper crown with Mini Eggs and fluffy chicks stuck to it.. completely unoriginal and boring and crap compared to most of the amazing creations on display on the heads of the rest of DD's infants school, as they paraded the playground.

Please help someone.. would be ever so grateful for ideas.. or better still, specific instructions!

No problem Wrdsmith.. easily explainable. My DD's easter bonnet is not for a competition, just a parade.. and the parents are asked to help the children make them.. although, with Infants children (which these are) it's obviously more a case of the the infants helping the parents. Most 4 - 7 year olds are going to need some help and guidance after all. DH and I made the bonnet.. wrapped it in crepe paper etc.. and DD has drawn, cut out and glued on paper flowers.

The egg decorating competition IS a competition.. but they all end up getting a prize. For this, the parents are asked NOT to help so that it's the children's own efforts. The winner (who gets a larger egg) is never an egg that has had obvious input from a parents.

That's not so bad, we've been asked to MAKE bonnets for DS's school.

For those still searching for a high street shop that sells fluffy chicks: head for Clinton's cards.

Phew! Finished ours over the weekend - I found it really hard!!!! (used the Humphrey's link - glad we had a template but I'm sooooooooo useless at things like this...).

Wordsmith - our ds1's 3, and once I'd managed to assemble it he painted it (in pink -his favourite colour), but dp and I have then added stuff to it to make it more interesting - there's no way he could have cut out train shapes (his other obsession) and stuck chicks to the top of it. And I'd be lying if I didn't admit to a bit of competitiveness..!!

Re fluffy chicks - The Works had boxes of around 15 chicks fo £1. Bought 3 sets and let dd have fun ripping heads and legs off one set. Kept her amused while shopping on Saturday!

Wordsmith - my DS hat was for nursery where we were asked to 'provide a hat for an Easter Parade'. I am 'permanently frazzled' as I work full time, however me & DS made this together on Sunday. His idea what to make & me providing the know how as to how to make it ! He is only 4 !
