Does anyone else have a child who gives you the impression that they've had a previous life?

For several months now my youngest son (3)has been saying things that make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. His most commonly recurring statements are:

'When I was younger in the olden days and I lived in America.....' and fill in the rest of the story.

'When I used to live in New York, me and my children would ....' and fill in the rest of the crazy story.

'Before when I was young, I got deaded, but they sprinkled me with special water and then I was alive again.'

'When I went in the ambulance a long time ago, they sprayed special water on me and that made me better.'

Today he told me a long and convoluted story about how he had fallen in a swimming pool but he hadn't died, but he and his children marched a long way to a big hole in New York. When I asked him how many children he had, he said 10. When I asked if they were boys or girls, they were apparently all boys except for one two year old girl.

He regularly sees me doing something - whatever, raking the garden, baking a cake - and he'll tell me about how he used to do that before when he lived in America. And he really seems quite emphatic about it.

Now I know he probably has a vivid imagination, but every now and then he just seems to know a little too much. We've never taken him to New York. Or indeed anywhere in the USA. He's certainly never been in an ambulance. It's all a bit baffling and weird.

Anyone else with a slightly spooky child this way?

That does sound weird and although am sure it is just a very over active imagination - you never know! My dd used to freak us out by watching something in the room and then say 'its ok she has gone now' how is that for making the hair on the back of your neck stand up?! Also when she first started to talk weirdly enough it was with a french accent - compleate strangers would comment on it! So she was def french in a previous life xX

Mine did this around that age, said various things about when they lived last time and when they were born again, and when they were a grown-up they did this and so on. I imagine it's mostly that they don't have a linear perception of life but undoubtably some children do come out with some very peculiar statements.

When my godson was very small he used to startle his mum by describing things he'd done "when I was big before". Creepy!

My eldest did this at 3yrs. She was far more articulate talking about her life in the jungle when she and her family nearly drowned falling out of a boat, than about anything in real life. Freaked me out a bit at the time. I just asked her about it (she's now 3.5) and she said she remembered telling me but it was all a dream.

I don't believe in reincarnation at all (not enough dead people for all the alive ones) but I can certainly see what might have inspired the idea.

not enough dead people for all the alive ones

But what about spirits - are there enough sprits or souls for all the alive humans? Or what about animals as well as humans can we not be reincarnated from other life? Would it have to be stricktly human to human?

Just curious

no ive not got a dc whos lived before, but i did see a documentary about a wee boy from glasgow area who descibed his previous life ,down to the cottage he lived in. his mum took him to the place he told her ...the cottage WAS THERE!!!!! they found it, he had never been there before... creepy! think it was called "the boy who lived before".

My ds (11) used to do this when he about 3, I can remember driving past a coal mine & even before I'd explained what it was he told me "when I was a man I worked there", i questioned him about it he said he was 47 & had 3 children.

My dd (on my profile) puzzles me, she has a strange look about her and some of her behaviour would suggest that she doesn't really belong here, if that makes sense?

there are people who have lived before and this has been well documented. you may find more answers if you post this thread in "philosophy/religion/spirituality" section. hth xxx
