Worried about children,is there anything I can do?

Will try and simplify this,a friend of mine was sexually abused by her father for years and years. She was a "tricky" person to deal with, and could be very cruel,no doubt down to the abuse, and I (and other friends)lost touch with her and then heard some years ago that she had committed suicide. She had two children who would now be 10 or 12 and I have had no luck in finding out where they are.I am worried that her father may have contact with them,is this just a pointless worry? Would the police do anything as my friend is no longer alive to testify? It just prays on my mind -any thoughts?

Gosh, how sad. I dont think I could settle. Can you do any checks yourself, i.e ring house or ask neighbours.

It is really sad,she was an amazing girl, stunningly beautiful and really funny and talented, but he totally wrecked everything. He was a real lech with me too which was hideous. She lost all her friends because she would say terrible cruel things and/or sleep with their boyfriends. Now I am older I can put it in context but it got too much for most of her friends to deal with.I don't even know her married name as all my contacts with her had lost touch with her by then.I know how clever her father was at manipulation and I don't know how to proceed.

How awful . Really tricky one for you. Is there any way you could track the family down through her maiden name?

Well I think her father may still live at their old address, but I don't want to talk to him!The man she married was horrible, according to one friend who met him,but I don't know where to start looking,I have tried various websites with no luck and called all the people who might have any knowledge and I have hit a wall.I have put out feelers on and off for years but nothing,I don't know how to trace someone, anyone ever done that?

OH I forgot to say,we were friends at school,so I knew her and her father when we were very young and experienced his leching.

I have no experiance of such a situation and am sorry to hear what your friend went through, I totally understand your concerns. I would contact the local social services unit and air your concerns to them. At least you have done your best for it to be dealt with by passing on what you can to the relevant people.

Good luck and also good for you for thinking about those 2 kiddies, a lot of people get caught up in their own busy lives.
