Would you apply to take part in Little Angels or Supernanny ???

Supernanny and Little Angels are both i think looking for participants for the next series.

I am having mega behavioural probs with my kids at the mo and am tempted to ask to take part.

Not that keen on the idea of being on tv though.

Would anyone else do it ??

I am very very tempted. Dp has said No, but that wouldn't stop me as it's me that gets the full force of their tantrums not him.

Hmmm will have to think about it some more i think.

I mean the kids friends mums would watch and relatives etc and i don't want them to think i am a crap mum.

Nutty, it might be worth it for the help you could get - you'd probably just get a lot of comments around the time they did the filming (because of all the paraphenalia parked outside your house) and around the time it was shown - but I imagine it would stop at that. The bbc made a programme with us in it about 3 years ago and occasionally people mention having seen it but not often.

We had a lot of newspaper coverage at the time (and since) though, which wouldn't happen to you - and that was far more intrusive, funnily enough.

Personally I wouldn't want to be on the telly with everyone able to criticise my parenting. Plus if you disagree with something then you can't really disagree with them can you.

Don't forget most of these programmes, like What Not To Wear and Changing Rooms etc, are likely to get repeated again and again on satellite/digital channels. That would put me off but then where else are you likely to get this kind of advice?

I don't think i would disagree with them as i am at a total loss with what to do with my kids lately.

Can just imagine the opening bit where they show you the kids misbehaving, lol.

It's not so much dd1, mainly dd2 and Ds who know how to wind me round their little fingers and will scream and scream at me until i give in

I don't think these programmes are as 'bad' as wife swap' type shows. I would never do something like wife swap but if I felt my family could really benefit from little angels type show and was at the end of my tether, then I would go for it - why not?

I would never ever agree to be on tv, or for my children to be on tv, for any reason whatsoever; and certainly not on a programme about behaviour and parenting. But that's just a personal value thing I guess.

I would love to- but would pretend I didn't know ds1 had special needs (really? should he be talking by now?) and then watch them try their techniques on him. I always snigger at the thought of it when I watch them.

other than that I hide from tv cameras so no!

I wouldn't do it - if your children are badly behaved - I don't think you are doing them any favours by putting them on tv and telling the whole nation they are babdly behaved.

Most of the things they seem to tell you to do - can be found out by reading a parenting book, asking your HV or other parents. The problem most of us have is putting these ideas into action

Ideally i would prefer to do a parenting course, but no one seems to want me to do one.

Asked the h.v and she said she didn't know of one (more like she couldn't be bothered to find out), and emailed parentline to ask them ,but they don't run them in my area.

Nutcracker, I did parenting classes and the materials for it were got from here:

family caring trust

I don't think they charge very much for materials,(books and videos), the people who ran the course were just two women from a local church who decided to do them.

If it's really terrible at home, affecting you and your DS/DD then why not? Whats short term shame for long term happy families?
