Sees a strange request I know, but is there any one out there who's just done a load of washing and its still in their machine?

Not at this moment, but it's happened to me every day this week. I hate going out after dark to hang the laundry, so if I put a load on lateish it waits until the following day before I hang it.

MissGalway · 11/03/2005 15:31

I do. Am just about to go take it out.

Spongebob · 11/03/2005 15:33

Would you be kind enough to put your machine on an extra rinse (of you can) and just look to see just how clear the water is?? Is it crystal clear or still a bit soapy? Im having a dispute with my washing machine company at the moment!!!

Not right now, but if a load finishes late afternoon/early evening I usually can't be arsed to start getting the last lot off the rack and into the dryer to make room for this lot (assuming the previous lot has been removed from the dryer...) so it waits overnight; it's a toss-up whether to leave it in the machine (doesn't smell quite as fresh then!) or pull it out into an empty basket if there is one (can leave things on top half-dry and very creased).

Janh · 11/03/2005 15:34

Ah - I was just about to ask why!

Janh · 11/03/2005 15:35

Is there any froth around the door?

MissGalway · 11/03/2005 15:35

will do. My rinse cycle takes about 7 mins so will report back then. ok

Nemo1977 · 11/03/2005 15:36

i do and its been washed 3 times as ds gets there before me

Spongebob · 11/03/2005 15:36

yes a little, when I put my machine on extra rinse...the water seems to be still soapy..they have just told me to cut back on detergent, but if I cut back any more I wont be using any at all!

No, but my housemate is currently washing hs washing for the 3rd time he leaves it in for ages then it gets smelly so it gets washed again.

The water is clear when our cycle is finishing.

Nemo1977 · 11/03/2005 15:38

ikm sure our water is usually clear at end f rinse...is it the detergent u use?

lunavix · 11/03/2005 15:38

It's MEANT to be clear (you wouldn't leave your washing in dirty soapy scud would you?)

however our machine is cr*p and on its way out (sob) and it's manky with stuff floating in it

MissGalway · 11/03/2005 15:42

I have just been to look and the water is clear as its is doing its thing.

Spongebob · 11/03/2005 15:42

have switched detergents to test that, but still not rinsing properly! Have had an enigineer out about 4 times now who says machine is working fine. Mystery.

MissGalway · 11/03/2005 15:42

what kind of machine have you? what abrand I mean

Spongebob · 11/03/2005 15:42

PsychoFlame · 11/03/2005 15:44

Both Psycho and Flame have!!!

Janh · 11/03/2005 15:44

Do you use fabric rinse, spongebob? That makes the water less clear but one of its functions (apart from making things as soft as your face etc) is to cut any lingering detergent traces.

Mine is normally frothy from the going-roundyness of it all, but not soapy...

PrettyCandles · 11/03/2005 20:32

Spongebob, try running a cycle at top temperature with nothing but white vinegar in all the compartments that will allow you to put liquids in them (ie instead of soap and conditioner). It could be that you've got a build-up of gunk in the pipes and on the outside of the drum. The vinegar will clear it away.

PrettyCandles · 11/03/2005 20:33

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I've got a top-loader.
