...as my coil was in it now flushed down the loo at a motorway service station. Could have been a quick way to having a third child, eh?

Did you not consider the havoc you may cause with blocked drains?

BennyandJoon - I assume the coil came out when you gave birth? Did it not cause any problems?

MatNanPlus · 02/11/2008 15:50

LTH mine have never fallen out, in 21 yrs!!

Good job you checked JC

Me too BBB

grouchyoscar · 02/11/2008 15:53

LTH I had mine fitted on Tuesday. Still a tad tender but I should give it a check

southeastalien · 02/11/2008 15:59

ew poor you! having a coil has always put me off the mooncup, i just imagine it sucking it out

BennyAndJoon · 02/11/2008 16:09

belgo - they seemed really unconcerned by it. More interested in me as a curiosity than worried about the effects

We never found the coil after they spotted it on a scan. We presume it came out and, erm, went somewhere, when my waters broke.

DD is 2 and a terror lovely

grouchyoscar · 02/11/2008 21:38

Well had a good fettle in my fanjo (sorry if TMI) and I think it's still there but my cervix feels a little swollen. I think I better see the GP about it as it wasn't like this last time

giraffescantdancethetango · 03/11/2008 01:49

checking the mooncups contents is the best part about it...isn't it?

Likeasow · 03/11/2008 02:06

yes. that and winding people up about them. have so far failed to persuade even one friend that they should convert to a mooncup - one of my favourite possessions now!

SuperBunny · 03/11/2008 02:30

I always check the contents of mine but usually after I empty it. It makes great patterns in the toilet

Littlefish · 03/11/2008 08:09

LTH take your fingers out of your ears and come and hear my horror story!

I used to have a coil called a "Gynaefix" or something like that. It was a string of copper beads which was sewn to the neck of the cervix! Having it put in was the most painful thing I've ever had done.

Fast forward 3 months and the darned thing fell out. No idea how that happened when it was actually sewn in. The Dr said she'd never, ever known one to come out.

I'm a medical mystery

JiminyCricket · 03/11/2008 19:21

ugh, yes the pain is putting me off going to get another one, but can't be bothered with the pill
my period is very heavy, which i presume was due to coil coming out ? started last weds and still heavyish (for me) today, though not as bad.
