really dislike it, maybe because i use sainsburys, but occasionally do it when we are all ill or i am v tired or busy.

find it hard to plan ahead as far as necessary, and although you don't have to accept substitutions, i have found that sainsburys have twice substituted something crucial, i.e. the main protein, so that the rest of the ingredients I was buying lose their point.

Last time they brought some of my stuff but the rest was 7 hours late - OK i got a money-off voucher but didn't want to use them again!

Might try Tesco.

Ocado is wonderful .. delivery slots are an hour, they bring it into the kitchen, its invariably right and free if spend over £75

Sainsbury's less wonderful and you have to check off receipt .. free delivery tues, weds, thurs if spend over £70

Twiglett · 10/03/2005 21:23

I can do recommend a friend vouchers of £15 off your first Ocado shop (over £75) if you want .. just need your email address

Twiglett · 10/03/2005 21:23

As Tamum keeps saying Ocado no good for you northerners though ..

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 10/03/2005 21:24

ASDA is great. Have used them for years.

flashingnose · 10/03/2005 21:26

Online shopping is the best invention ever. Use Tescos and they are (mostly) very good.

tamula · 10/03/2005 21:26

Handy when pregnant or very busy, I've used them all!!! Iceland, Sainsburys and Waitrose/Ocado very pleased, it feels like getting free shopping!!

Sainsburys was fab with us!

helsi · 10/03/2005 21:26

tamula - what if just lazy?

I think lazy works too, you may even get a discount - ask instore for details. Ocado is the delivery branch for Waitrose.

gingernut · 10/03/2005 22:15

Ocado is actually a different company to Waitrose but they have a deal with Waitrose. They deliver Waitrose goods in areas that are not covered by Waitrose's own delivery service.

I've just started using Tesco - it cost £3.99 for a daytime slot.

I started using it to try and save money on the shopping - we realised we were spending £150 per week going to Tesco and it was getting out of hand. Sunday night we sat down and planned our meals and kids meals for the week and ordered everything we needed for the week - including delivery it came to £57!!! So well worth it.

It was a bonus to have it plopped in my hallway by two nice men too - no need to drag 3 boys round Tesco!

I'm hooked.

purpleturtle · 10/03/2005 22:47

Before anyone gets their hopes up, Asda no longer do free delivery for a shop of over £99. I used to internet shop a lot, but then our local Safeway got turned into a Tesco (too close to existing Morrisons) and I don't mind going there myself. (And it doesn't cost me £4.25 or something - although if I can't be bothered, I don't really mind paying that)

CountessDracula · 10/03/2005 22:47

Ocado. Brilliant. No charge for £75+

Twiglett · 10/03/2005 22:49

check out ocado.com they have a postcode thing you can see if they deliver

if they do send me a cat with your email and I'll put your email on the 'recommend a friend thingy' for your £15 off first shop voucher

helsi · 12/03/2005 20:54

Well I did it I have made my first online order with ASDA. Booked it to come on Monday night. Hopefully it will be ok. Can't believe how uch less it will cost me - I have a habit of pickjing all sorts of things up when I go to the store.

ocado do deliver oooooooooooop north now.... they have made it to south manchester at least... and are fab... totally the best of all of the supermarkets... hardly ever fail to deliver the full list -- bit pricy but worth it for knowing you won't need to go to a supermarket again that week!
