How much sleep do YOU need?

DH has suddenly decided I sleep too much .. I would say I probably get 8ish hours of sleep a night (occasionally broken by baby), however have only been sleeping that much for a few weeks compared to a year and a bit of broken sleep

I occasionally fall asleep on the couch

and a couple of times a week probably go to bed before 10pm

I do feel tired a lot and feel I'm not getting enough sleep

V. annoyed at DH for commenting TBH

how much sleep do you need

beansprout -thats exactly what my dh says 'i work you know' no sh*t! and what is it I do? 24 hours a day? (roll eyes) at least he gets to sit down and says 'my working day is done' i dont!!

....er.. do i sound bitter? LOL need more sleep you see......

Smurfgirl · 10/03/2005 23:06

I would like 8 hours each night, but my house is super noisy so it doesn't happen.

Usually I get 2-3 nights of 4 or 5 hours then a big massive 10 hour sleep then back to 4/5 hours.

Ok I know thats a lot, but I get tired because my sleeping patterns get a bit messed up. Last night it went quiet at 3am and I got up at 8 hardcore!

Oh I will be a rubbish mum! How will I cope on no sleep!!

ThomCat · 10/03/2005 23:08

Need?????
Have - about 6.5 - 7ish.

soapbox · 10/03/2005 23:11

I need 7 hours a night.

I get between6 and 6.5, mainly because I'm a night owl and can never drag myself off to bed at a reasonable time

unicorn · 10/03/2005 23:12

Well I should be fast asleep now!
No longer can I blame the kids for my late hour....
Mumsnet is responsible! (everybody please stop chatting in an interesting manner!!!)

I'm not at my best if I get less than 5-6 hours or more than 7-8. I guess 7 is about spot on.

eidsvold · 11/03/2005 03:07

more than i currently get

marthamoo · 11/03/2005 06:59

Oh me too eidsvold - up at 5.30 again this morning.

Twiglett, this is a simmering issue in the moo household too. I get up with ds2 every weekday morning (usualy between 5.30 and 6). Dh sleeps in 'til the last possible minute - about 20 past 8. Drives me mad as I run around like a blue arsed fly getting everything done, trying to have a shower with ds2 wreaking havoc etc., then he breezes down at 20 past 8 and makes himself a cup of coffee and some toast. Grrrrrrr.

When I get the odd weekend lie in (and it isn't every weekend - dh works a lot of weekends) I generally sleep 'til about 11. Because I am bl**dy knackered!

I try (MN interferes with this) to go to bed around 11, and sometimes go about 10. Mainly because I know I am getting up at the crack of dawn. Dh stays up 'til the wee small hours of the morning (because he knows he doesn't have to get up at 5.30)

Now, by my reckoning - the fact that he chooses to go to bed at such a ridiculously late hour is his own look-out. But he will often have a go at me when I say I am tired - and say "how can you be tired? You went to bed early. I've only had 6 hours sleep." And when I do have a rare lie-in he is pissy all day about the length of time I've been in bed.

He reckons I get far more sleep than he does and have no business being tired. I feel like I am being got at for being sensible enough to realise that I simply can't burn the candle at both ends. So sympathy, Twigs...

That turned into a bit of a rambly rant, sorry!
