I read an artical the other day that said that twins were more statistically more likely to be born to tall mothers. When I thought about it I realised that the 4 sets of twins I know of all have tall mothers.
I am TTC at the moment and I'm on the fertility drug Clomid so that would increase my chances of having twins. I'm 5 foot 6 and always thought of myself as being quite tall, my daughter is very tall for her age and I was always very tall as a child. Recently people have said things like, "Your daughter is very tall, she must have a tall Daddy" or "It's funny that your daughter is so tall because neither of you are particulally tall".
What do you think, is 5 foot 6 tall or not ?
I think I'd quite like twins to be honest, although I don't know how I'd cope, or where they'd sleep.

I'm pretty sure 5ft 6 is not considered tall these days. I think it's pretty average. I'm 5ft 9 and think I'm tallish but not hugely so.

I'm the same height and in my home town I feel tall. In my current town I am a short arse. So no, it isn't very tall.

milkmoustache · 27/10/2008 20:56

I thought the average height for women was about 5 foot 5, so I wouldn't say 5 ft 6 is that tall.
I reckon this is also to do with good posture, and some people can just project a 'tall' persona too...

I'm 5"4 and have twins so don't give up hope.

5'6" is not tall. It is average.

I wouldn't say 5ft6 is tall but, twins tend to run in families, you are apparently more likely to have twins if there are fraternal twins in the family already.

I've always been the tallest in my class all through school, and when I was measured at 3 years old the doctor predicted that I'd be 6 foot 2 as an adult.
I stopped growing at 13 though, well in height anyway.
My daughter will probubly be the same.
If you've always been tall, it's hard to imagine yourself as average height. I have good posture and dress as a tall person. [

My sister has twins - she's 6ft 2. I don't think 5ft 6 is tall. I'm 5ft 9 and don't consider myself particularly tall.

Ranting - Non-identical twins run in families - from the mother's side down through daughters as far as I know. It's a genetic pre-disposition to produce more than one egg at a time. Identical twins do not run in families - they are simply the result of an egg splitting after it has been fertilised.
