Need some help with birthday invitation for ds1 - anyone good at this sort of thing?

Ds1 is 7 in a couple of weeks and wants to take a few chums to the cinema then McD's after. I'm rubbish at this sort of thing and not arty in the slightest, and it's not really a party as such. Does anyone know of any good websites where something could be conjoured up to meet his requirements - ie looks like an invitation, has something cool (hero of the moment etc - something with 'Robots' even better as this is the film he wants to see) on the front and tells people what they need to know - TIA

to or to buy?

AuntyQuated · 04/03/2005 21:29

sorry - that was supposed to say

to make or to buy?

Here's a website that you can download robot clipart from - you could make A5 invitations with a border of different robots (this is fairly straightforward in Word) and copy the wording from a standard party invitation.

HunkerMunker · 04/03/2005 21:30

It's not very hi-tech robots, I'm afraid though

Aero · 04/03/2005 21:34

To make if I can - am a technophobe, but willing to learn - fast! Will take a look HM - and AQ - might have to ask how to do it in a bit!

hiya
right click on pics to save to your pc. do you have microsoft publisher? this has invitation templates on there. if not you can use word.

Aero · 04/03/2005 22:50

Am using word and tbh am making a right hash of things. Have a good idea of what I want and have saved what I've done so far so can go back to it when I'm less fed up with it!
Dh will help with formatting hopefully, but he's out tonight!

you may like to try using an tepmlate from microsoft.com?

Aero · 04/03/2005 23:53

I will have a go at that later - am fed up trying for now, but will get there in the end - am determined that I can do this.

yes sometimes it need a fresh go to get something right doesn't it.

HunkerMunker · 05/03/2005 00:12

Sorry, hun - went to have my dinner, then forgot I was on this thread!

Nothing to do with robots, but it's a cheap and fun way of making invitations...
blow up some balloons but don't tie them, just secure them, then write the invitation details on them with permanent marker, deflate and pop in an envelope. Ta da! Blow-up invitations ... kids love 'em!

Aero · 05/03/2005 11:13

That's ok HM - still working on it!
Thanks Bibiboo - great idea - may have to use that if I can't figure this out, but I'm not one to let this beat me! Will probably do that for dd though!

how goes it? have you nailed it yet?

sammac · 05/03/2005 14:27

Just saw ad on tv that Burger King are doing Robot meals- might be able to continue the theme that way if one nearby

geogteach · 05/03/2005 19:44

Try this website www.dltk-kids.com/
Just done DS a farm invite, goes step by step allowing you to choose images (loads of themes), text and formating then print whole thing out.

Aero · 06/03/2005 23:40

Thanks all - finally got it done. Used your suggestion HM - robots were great - just the type of thing that I was looking for. Also used Microsoft Publisher. Ds1 is pretty happy with them, so problem sorted.
Cheers for that Sammac, though unfortunaely Maccy D's is all that's on site!
Thanks again everyone.
