How addicted to mumsnet are you?

My name is Lucy and I am a mumsnet addict.

I have just realised this as I have sneaked upstairs while dd is with dp for a fix (and a fag - but that's qnother thing).

Also the other day I was talking to dp about something or other beginning "On mumsnet someone said...". He repied "This one time, at band camp" (you'll have to have seen American Pie to get that). It's awful. what should I do?

me too. i normally laugh off the addiction thing - at the meet ups i have been to, this topic invariably comes up and how we all chuckle. however, i really think it has gone too far for me now - i'm wasting loads of time at work here for a start - and i need help!

so, apologies, no advice from me, i'm in the same boat!

That's fantastic - I just sent my DP an email (he's working late) saying "mumsnet is much more interesting than TV - I'm an addict". It's worse for me because I work from home I can't stop!!

I love coming onto mumsnet although for some reason when I reply the thread stops (am i being paranoid), but my dh says I spend too much time on mumsnet but it's my only vice (but what a good one eh)

Don't be paranoid, Chiccadum. It has to stop somewhere! I mean there are other things in life (like work, housework, real-as opposed to virtual- people to deal with). Aren't there?

I am seriously addicted too - this is the fifth time I have logged on today - but what's the alternative, sitting in front of Sky watching the fishing channel with DH - no thanks.

What do you all say when you want to describe points of view you have read on Mumsnet - I hate to admit it to other people because it makes me sound like a sad person addicted to chat rooms (perhaps I am?) ..... so I often say 'I read such & such in the paper' ......... & just hope they don't ask which paper!

lindy, i can relate to that! i normally say a mum i know... or what i hear is... i have been slightly embarrassed about it before, especially in terms of meet ups...

BUT when i think of the nct "post natal support groups" i.e. tea/coffee for mums in your area and having to knock on strangers' doors to attend coffee mornings with people i had only one thing in common with (i.e. having had a baby at roughly the same time in the same area)... well it really doesn't seem all that strange to me by comparison.

at least here you "know" people to a degree from their posts before you meet them...

think i am moving off topic and justifying my addiction rather than helping to wean off!

We've just got broadband, which is why I'm on here more often and it certainly is addictive! Chiccadum - and there was me thinking that I was the one who always seemed to kill a thread - this will probably be the end of this one!! (don't know how to do smiley faces!)

We have broadband at home and when I'm here, I keep looking at Mumsnet. Oddly enough though, if I'm away I don't have the same craving - even if there's internet access, I don't feel the urge to look.

Mind you, it's the same with chocolate. If it's not here, I don't want it. If it's in the house, it's gone in 60 seconds...

I get up every morning and while having my coffee, I look at mumsnet, then if I am home I will check it a few times during the day.

You know what? It just kills me during the day when you lot are all snoring in the UK ... I get really impatient waiting for people to get up and start typing! Then I get a couple of hours and then I have to go to bed. The first thing I do when I get up (AFTER giving DS breakfast of course ... ) is see what I've missed while I have been snoring!!!!
My Sunday night is the worst ... you all have lie-ins and go to church etc on Sunday morning so it is AGES before the chats get going again!
I particularly like the chats that make me laugh ... the banter between some of you cracks me up ... won't mention any names ... and I also love the arguments - have a morbid fascination of them ...
KS ... now it is my turn to be a bit p**d! How's the head this morning?

I am very badly addicted too. We went out last night and got back quite late but I still logged on to see what had been going on. Was too drunk to type though I mostly manage not to look during the day when I'm working, ooh, what willpower, but I always log on at 3pm when I've finished. I usually say "I read somewhere" when quoting mumsnet unless it's to dp and then I can admit that I read it here. Lucy123, I've seen American Pie so get the reference!

I have mumsnet set as my homepage, so I check it whenever I fire up internet explorer. I must be addicted as I did not go to bed until 3am this morning. Not had much sleep either as dd (nearly 7 months old) didn't go to sleep until 11pm them woke again at 1.45am, 3.45amand 6am before being wide awake at 7.30am so I am now absolutley shattered. Can't have a sleep now though as the housework needs to get done (unlike dd who is now sleeping on her daddy's shoulder).

I've got Mumsnet as my homepage too so I check it whenever to PC is on. I check first once DS2 has eaten his brekkie and DS1 is eating his at about 6:45 am and then whenver I get a chance through the day, probably about 4 or 5 times.
We've only had the PC a little while and got Broadband set up straight away so I never know mumsnet without it.
