I hate chain letters. However, DD1 (10) received one yesterday from a good friend. It says it was started in 1996 and needs to continue until Winter 2008, when it will be published in the Guiness Book of Records along with the names of all the children who kept it going.

DD1 has 4 days to send a copy of this letter to 7 friends and to add her name to the list of kids. If you put "Guiness Book of Records" on the envelope you don't have to pay postage as the post office are monitoring the letter. (I know this bit is true as the letter did indeed arrive through the post with a postmark but no stamp).

There doesn't seem to be any harm in this chain letter (no threats etc) but I would welcome any comments from those of you who have come accross it.

Many thanks in advance.

"along with the names of all the children who kept it going" - 7x7x7x7x7 etc etc etc, every 4 days, for 12 years?

You do the maths

You lot are (predictably) brilliant.

Wendy - yes, I had already thought of that - one of the reasons I was suspicious. Also, one of the instructions in the letter is to cross off one of the children's names, so how can that name be logged??

Thanks everyone. I shall now do something more productive with my time, like brush the dog.

DD got it twice over the holidays. I chucked it in the bin as I do with all such junk mail.
