May be relocating, any advice on nice / no go areas, good schools (primary) etc?

Need to be no further than 20 miles from Medway towns.

TIA

I was raised in Herne Bay and wild horses wouldn't induce me to live there again. Apart from Faversham and Whitstable (had our first home there) the whole area is souless now. Depressingly, dh and I have to go to H Bay next month....

Had a bit more time to go over your comments, really useful, thanks!

I did suspect Medway towns perhaps not the ideal of locations based on what family have told me, we did live there when I was a baby and I think it was grim then and it doesn;t sounds like things much better these days!

I was thinking Faversham area towards Canterbury maybe as an alternative to Maidstone & it sounds like you would mostly agree on that one.

I do have a hankering to live by the sea, but I bet Whitstable is really expensive these days isn;t it?!

DH will probably refuse tho cos he has some strange fear about global warming & sea levels rising & always insists we buy houses on high ground [sigh]

Well we should know for sure within the next weeks or two, bloomin' hope so as dh lost his job in December so we are unemployed at the mo.

Thanks again everyone

FFF! It is depressing - they've built a DIY store on my dad's allotment - how could they??

Hi there, I'm new on Mumsnet and about to move from NW London down to Kent. Was wondering what the villages southwest of Rochester are like to live in, places such as Wouldham for ex. We have a 3-yr old and another one on the way so need some peace and quiet, countryside, good schools etc but still good travel routes into London and not too far from Rochester. I know this is an old thread but chancing it anyway!
