Could any of you help me we are planning our wedding and have been looking at wedding rings our personal styles are very different so the big question is do they have to match.

We both want Gold but I would like diamonds and he hates anything like that.

PLEASE help this is becoming a pain!!

Both our rings are platinum, but very different styles. Mine has 12 diamonds, channel set into it. Dh's is a v plain band.

Gwenick · 15/02/2005 17:20

Ours are completely different, his is a band of white and 'normal' gold. Mine has got about 8 cubic zerconias (couldn't afford the diamones ) in it in a zigzag type fashion

eidsvold · 15/02/2005 21:17

ours didn't - both sets.... dh had an engraved patterned ring in white gold and I had a plain white gold band. When he lost weight and his ring became too large for his hand - he then bought another one that has patterned edges.. me - still got the plain band. YOu can have what you like - does not need to be matching.

Tommy · 15/02/2005 21:23

ours don't match at all His is a huge fat plain band and mine is a little delicate thing (like me ) with diamonds and a bit cut out so my engagement ring fits over it

paolosgirl · 15/02/2005 21:25

Ours are both plain gold in a court style - only mine is 18ct and cost a bit, and we got his from a grotty jeweller near Central Station in Glasgow who was having a closing down sale, at a grand cost of £9.99 It is real gold, though....(we think)
I think I'll have to make ammends this year as it's our 10th anniverary....

They don't have to match at all.
I have a slightly patterned one and DH's one is plain. We had them engraved inside though with our wedding date. Dh has 'together' and I have 'forever' engraved in them too. So they do match a bit!

HunkerMunker · 15/02/2005 21:32

Ours don't match Mine's a plain gold band, all roundy and smooth. And his doesn't exist as he didn't want one.

CarrieG · 15/02/2005 21:39

I like the fact that ours match - not that I think they have to. Ours are both silver court style. We decided that, given neither of us liked anything gold or fancy, we'd go for the simplest matching rings we could find in silver. His is wider - big guitarist hands to set off! - but otherwise they're identical.

I love mine because it's completely plain. I wear lots of other rings anyway, so it's nice to have a very simple wedding ring which matches dh's.

californiagirl · 16/02/2005 01:16

Ours are similar but not identical -- they're titanium, his is broader than mine and mine is slightly anodized (so it's just a tiny bit blue). He didn't want a ring, but when I said he had to have one, but he didn't have to wear it, he thought that was silly, so we went looking for something he didn't mind. Initially he didn't like having them different, but they're so much more like each other than they are like most people's rings that he's OK with it now. And I must say, to my surprise titanium is more comfortable than gold.

pinkwhistle · 16/02/2005 03:58

I don't think so either...a ring is such a personal thing so it should be a reflection of you. And you are the one who has to wear it!!!

Dh and mine are different. Mine is a plain half round gold band and his is a white gold flattish band with a "weave" pattern. We figured I have the diamond engagement ring whereas he has only 1 ring to wear, so his should be something a bit more ornate.

I think it is more important to match the bride's wedding ring to the engagement ring.

Hi Kelly1978

I tried to CAT you but it tells me I can't, I've been trying to contact you about the DD100 and A103 thing! Let me know if you still want to do it! My email is [email protected], I'm pretty sure there aren't any axe-murderers on here, if there are ... well ... good luck! Take care ... CAZ

NameChangingMancMidlander · 16/02/2005 14:33

californiagirl - I love my titanium wedding ring. It's soooooooo light ! My platinum & diamond engagement ring must be 4x the weight.

Nikkichik · 16/02/2005 15:39

Ours are just plain gold bands and we had them made for us (sounds expensive but not!) So I guess they do match but it wasn't really a big priority. I could have had something different had I wanted it but just wanted something simple and I already had my engagement ring.

Fastasleep · 16/02/2005 15:42

We got matching white gold ones (cos we're cheap!) except they were different widths as I had the tall + big handed versus short + little handed problem...I really don't think it matters though, in my experience men take them off every five seconds anyway (mine only wears his to work at the moment lol)

highlander · 16/02/2005 17:00

DH's is gold and mine is platinum to match my engagement ring.

Be warned - a plain platinum band scratches really easily!

Dyzzidi · 21/02/2005 12:02

GOt My Ring!!!

I am so excited finally picked out a gold finr with Platinum and a band of Diamonds across the top I am really excited! DP is similar with the two colours but no Diamonds we are both over the moon.
