Do you keep your wedding dress for ever? Should I? I'm looking at it now and it has been 11 years since I last put it on....

Should I re-wrap it and keep it or what? Hmmm

keep

i have mine hanging in the loft

it is daft, i will never wear it again but the sentimental side of me CANNOT bear to part with it

OTOH, i think there is a charity shop which takes them and sells them on

MrsJohnCusack · 02/08/2008 10:58

keep it
if for no other reason than that your daughters will love trying it on in the future

SorenLorensen · 02/08/2008 11:00

My Mum still has hers (they have been married 44 years this year) - I didn't have one (got married naked).

KEEP, KEEP, KEEP, KEEP ,KEEP

I would give it to charity shop/eBay. Just my opinion, but it's the person you married that's important, not the stuff that went with it. I am very minimalist though!

PrincessPeaHead · 02/08/2008 11:35

I have got 2 daughters.... it is very beautiful (Catherine Walker) but I'm just slightly wondering WHY I'm keeping it.

I suppose they might like to try it on, but I don't suppose either of them will get married in it....

Hmmm

My mum asked if she could chuck mine away as it's in her wardrobe. Don't feel very sentimental about it as my marriage ended 2 years back, but chucking it seems like a waste of a nice dress!

Uriel · 02/08/2008 11:39

I'm in the same situation, although 17 years for mine! I've made up my mind to pass it on to a charity shop now, though. If they still want it.

MrsJohnCusack · 02/08/2008 13:02

I could NEVER give/throw mine away. It was designed and made for me by a fashion designer friend who specialises in wedding dresses (rather posh ones). We chose all the silks together in the Indian shops in Southall. It's special

(but I am a sentimental old baggage and a hoarder so am only ever going to have the KEEP IT view)
