we have so many threads on lifestyle tv, i was wondering if anyone else is a sucker for police/legal/forensic type drama? channel five has a good selection atm - both sets of csi (vegas and miami from saturday) and just saw the first episode of boomtown - like it! the shield was also up my street but on too late for us to see much of it. law & order unfortunately between series at the moment.

c5 have also had some good-ish documentaries on recently. is it just me or is it really improving?

darn - i was so busy nattering on the channel 4 online wifeswap chat that I forgot. It's meant to be very good - is it?

willow, i really liked it. the story told from the viewpoints of different characters is a device i like both in literature and film/tv and it was done well here. the plot was standard police/detective fare, but hey, that's what i like! production values pretty high, i thought, performances good. only criticism so far was that the characterisation was a little cliche-ed - the hard-bitten female crime reporter, the detective with problems at home, the campaigning da for whom every move is politically calculated, and whose private life won't stand scrutiny. however, having said that, lots of room for the characters to develop over time.

enjoy!

Yeh pick me - I love CSI almost to my husband's despair however he was able to watch his football last night and we taped CSI and the new series which he wanted to watch.

Although when the first series first aired - I was very pregnant and squeamish and so had to look away all the time when they showed the sequences they do with bullets or things entering the body and so on. Dh always used to laugh until the night I puked in response to Space Cowboys and a scene in that movie and I could not help it... all over the lounge room floor and up the hall to the bathroom!!! Poor thing was running behind me cleaning it up....

But now - CSI on two times a week - new Las Vegas series and a new Miami serious.

I don't mind Midsomer murders but I sure as heck would not want to live there.

I love CSI and the new Boomtown seems good too...neither as good as The Shield though which was very excellent. Just call me telly queen

c5 is the new c4... It's got good dramas, good kiddies' programmes in the morning (anyone else's kids love Rolie Polie Olie and Jay Jay the Jet Plane?!) I also like the Wright stuff - a bit gossipy and shallow I know, but hey that's what I like about it.
