Is £300 about right for a selection of studio photos?

I got some photos done of my dd a few weeks ago as part of an offer - they were doing a no-obligation photo shoot with a free print. I've got the free print but the rest of the photos are so gorgeous I'm tempted to buy some (which of course is the point!) The cheapest package to get more than a few prints (9 in total) is £300 - that feels expensive, although I've no experience of these things (not being mean, just don't want to be ripped off). Is that a normal price? If it's not, could anybody recommend a photo studio in the Manchester area where I could get some more done?

It's outrageous! Typical practice though for these high resoution shots.

I managed to get them to put the photos onto a dvd and charge me £50.00, after I pointed out that they'd just delete them if I walked away...

Sounds pretty average for these places. If they have an "offer" where you dont pay for the shoot then they will up the cost of the photos to compensate.

3 years ago I had pics taken of DD1 in Venture, paid £1700 for 2 HUGE pics (all framed) of her, they are gorgeous, black and white close ups, not the jumping around shots and am pleased with them.

Last week took DD2 to Pixi Foto in Mothercare, instructed them I just wanted some really natural black and white shots of her and they too are fab. Have paid £200 for 7 pics. Have to buy the frames though.

I would say £300 is the norm but like anything the cost varies hugely, depending on the talent of the photograph and where you live. If you are pleased with them and can afford it, I would go for it! You will never tire of looking at them on the wall.

There is no such thing as a freebie really, these photographers know that the majority of parents can't resist getting a few pics of their LO's. Hence they have packages, 1 costs a fortune but 9 is more cost effective.

Take your own with a good camera, much cheaper .

Pinions - I take loads but I'm not that good a photographer!

Sounds like they're not ripping me off at least - might try and blag a discount though .

I have paid more than that so yes, it is a typical price.
