chipped glass pan lids...........................safe to use or possibility of explosion????

one of my pan lids has a chip lost out of it.

it is glass, with a metal rim!!

what are the safety aspects of continued use?? Kimi on another thread said to me that it may go BANG.......I am interested in other opinions......not least because

1 - I have no wish for an explosion
2 - I seem to have a breaking streak at the moment (since last weekend......lid of water filter, 2 wine glasses, an entire bottle of wine, my 'spike' super glass(), the kettler lid (earlier while boiling kettle for a coffee to raise for Mr MB), a couple of toys I trod on (no great loss to me, the kiddies have far too many), oh, and the hoover keeps overheating when I use it too)
3 - I really would like a new set of pans.......if this is now too dangerous to use, I have a good excuse to demand ask nicely for some.

soooooooo

opinions please
