Any tips for wet combing your own hair for head lice?

Can anyone recommend a method for wet combing your own hair when checking for head lice/nits?

Lots of conditioner. Brush through first to remove the knots. Do it in sections. Use a nitty gritty and rinse it in the sink between each stroke so you can see if anything comes out.

I give my dry hair (straight but thick) a good brush upside down over a white piece of paper to de tangle then use a finer comb (still dry) and get right down into the root

Both times my daughter gave me nits, this method allowed me to identify if I had them in the first place as the lice dirt and actual lice popped out. Big fat ones.😱.

Actually treating myself was much harder, I've never found the headlice chemicals very effective. I just had to section my hair, douse it with conditioner and use a nitty gritty comb twice a week. A double mirror set up is very helpful if you can manage it so you can see the back of your head. Ideally get someone else to do it. The key is small sections of hair and digging the comb right down to the scalp as that's where they hang out.

Wipe the conditioner off onto tissue paper so you can see when you catch them. That way you can count them and the next session see the number reduce or disappear entirely.

I did two full sessions with no lice before stopping.
