Taking photos of strangers. Why?

Yesterday 4 of us were at a music festival, the type where you go from pub to pub. I exchanged pleasantries with a woman at the next table when she first arrived, there were 8 to 10 of them. A while later as they were taking photos it turned out one of the women had taken some specifically of me! I’m not looking at the camera, and the one she showed me was sideways on. I jokingly said, that’s a breach of privacy. Her and her friends just laughed and when I asked why she had taken the photo, she made a comment that I couldn’t hear and then she started talking to her friend.
I didn’t want to make a fuss about it and short of standing over her as she deleted the photos there wasn’t much I could do. But, I am really puzzled as to why she would take my photo. What possible use can she make of it?

Maybe she thought you looked good and wanted to capture the moment and share it with you, it obviously backfired so she deleted the photo and left you to it.

It's not a breach of privacy if you're in a public space.

DH and DS both keen photographers, they have taken many photos of people while out and about, because they 'see' a good picture there.

Going from pub being described as a music festival is brilliant. I thought going from pub to pub was a pub crawl?

But I would be really upset OP if random people were taking photos of me. And I would be suspicious of the person's motives. I would definitely have challenged her and asked her why she was taking the photos and invading my privacy.
