or would you ask him to do bit of weeding now until 1 hour up? It was a casual arrangement. Just don't want to be taken as mean nor do I want to be seen as easy to get cash off.

I 'd pay the fiver for just the lawn.

gardening is hard work. fiver for an hr isnt enough imo

I think that's fair as long as he does a good job - if you make him work an hour then you're penalising him for being fast!

If he's skimping bits then fair to point that out and ask him to tidy up with shears.

and btw I would never get anyone I didn't trust to do weeding - god knows what they might rip up.
