What can i do with old european currency?

I'm having a massive ruthless clearout and have just found a hoarding of old european currency - francs etc - any idea what I can do with it? Its all in coins and small denominations so probably not worth much but seems stupid to just throw it out

I know banks in Italy will still take lire. Charity? I think they still have those big boxes for you to drop coins in in airports.
