Because I need to.

As a parent I think a lot of reports would be far more interesting if the teacher writing them had had a gin and tonic or two.. so go one and do it. Have a bottle..

anorak · 21/06/2008 20:06

Just another thing to tell all the people who think teachers knock off work at 3.30 every day and have really long holidays!

janeite · 21/06/2008 20:06

Tell you what Twinset; I'll write yours and you write mine and we'll see if any of the parents actually notice!

I've finished Yr 10 (both subjects) and all of my ead of Year ones (I have to write one for every child in the year group -arghhh) but still have Yr 8 and 9 to do.

justkeepswimming · 21/06/2008 20:07

sympathies from an EX-teacher

twinsetandpearls · 21/06/2008 20:07

I am leaving the school at the end of term and as I am the head of year I am the person doing the quality assurance so they are very honest.

I have just finished off a report saying
something along the lines of your daughter needs to remember of they have nothing pleasant to say it is best to say nothing at all.

"Ead"?!!!! "HEAD" obviously!

robinpud · 21/06/2008 20:08

Sounds good TWAP.. how exactly did you couch that comment?

twinsetandpearls · 21/06/2008 20:08

I am trying not to think about the fact I have to write an extra report on every child in the year when these are finished as well as proof read thousands.

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 21/06/2008 20:09

It was couched as a target! Not sure it it is a SMART one but it is bloody needed!

Anorak are you saying I am giving those people more or less amunition with my total dedication and proffessionalism?

OP posts:
robinpud · 21/06/2008 20:11

Wouldn't it all be easier if we could write them in the "call a spade a spade " , mode?

twinsetandpearls · 21/06/2008 20:14

Mine are usually quite call a spade a spade mode tbh. I have never been asked to rewrite one either. Parents don't want to be lied to.

What I said was meant to be on your side TS I know my friend Christie works till midnight some nights and a good bit of her holidays with lesson plans and other paperwork.

TheProvincialLady · 22/06/2008 18:57

You should plan regular rewards when doing this kind of work. Have a G&T every 3 reports and you will be much happier and well motivated.

Littlefish · 22/06/2008 19:25

I'm writing mine too. I'll join you in a G&T when I've finished tonight's quota.

Luckily, I only have 15 to write by Tuesday, and I've done 7 already. My target is to get to 10 or 11 tonight and then finish the rest off tomorrow night.

Littlefish · 22/06/2008 19:26

Now - a question for you.

Do you do them in:

Alphabetical order?
Random order?
Ability order?
Easiest to write first?
Hardest to write first?

I just write them in the order they are on the computer system - which keeps crashing which is not helping matters.

Right, that's it. I'm off to write 3 more.

twinsetandpearls · 22/06/2008 20:26

I am going to have to start cutting and pasting.
