teehee i did that once running it through empty with bleach in to clean it. cue lecture from dh..

whomovedmychocolate · 19/06/2008 21:01

Hahah I did that when I tried to clean the dishwasher. Also did the same thing with biological washing powder on the basis that if it got the washing clean, it'd do the same for the machine.

Flamesparrow · 19/06/2008 21:02

I discovered likewise why it is best not to use a squirt in the washing machine (was thinking it would clean the greasy highchair cover nice...)

flipflopper · 19/06/2008 22:38

Think its salt that is good to use if you run out of dishwasher tablets, how much fairy did you use? more than a small squirt?

Washersaurus · 19/06/2008 22:42

DH filled some manky tea stained mugs from work with a squirt of washing up liquid and put them in our dishwasher and we ended up with that lovely bubbly effect .

QuintessentialShadows · 19/06/2008 22:45

And if your showergel bottle has burst in your gymbag, do NOT just put the towel that soaked it all up in the washing machine, for the same reason....

PillockOfTheCommunity · 19/06/2008 22:50

Am I the only one now tempted to try it?

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2008 22:52

i could have told you that
(not me - sil!)

FAQ · 19/06/2008 22:53

no you're not pillock - I was just thinking that it's already nearly 11pm and I still haven't done any housework...................

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2008 22:54

I would imagine the reason her floor is clean is because she spent hours mopping it all up
DON'T DO IT!!

katw3kitts · 19/06/2008 22:55

Yep... Been there done that too.

Holiday apartment with no dishwasher tablets left, you can imagine

differentID · 19/06/2008 22:56

FAQ, neither have I- and I don't have kids yet.

FAQ · 19/06/2008 23:02

well my kitchen floor is manky a little dirty too.........

differentID - I really, really really must do something before I go to bed, it's truly awful in here at the moment, and I'm out tomorrow morning, have a meeting (here) tomorrow night, and my BF coming over after he finishes work later - so it's now or never really/

differentID · 19/06/2008 23:05

ah, in that case,

FAQ · 19/06/2008 23:06

yeah - it's just me being lazy really...........

think I may have another ciggie and try and do something......

actually - does anyone have a link to the flylady rescue cleaning thingy (or whatever it's called).......

Pixel · 20/06/2008 19:56

Lol, I did the same by accident. I put washing up liquid in a pan I was going to clean and then realised that there was room in the dishwasher and I might as well bung it in there. I gave it a quick rinse first but obviously not enough as I found out later .

hifi · 20/06/2008 20:13

i put fairy ultra blast, or whatever on a pan then put in dish washer, mayhem.

SlartyBartFast · 20/06/2008 20:15

dh put washing up liquid in washing machien to wash the clothes, lots and lots of foam

OrmIrian · 20/06/2008 20:24

Yes it does make lots of foam but it cleans it beautifully.

suedonim · 20/06/2008 21:54

This thread reminds me of my mum's friend. Her toddler ds was always into mischief and one day he locked himself in the loo, poured a packet of Persil down the pan and flushed and flushed and flushed and flushed. Luckily, the dad was a fireman so he called out his own fire brigade to break down the door and pump away the foam!
