Popped into boots yesterday to get a few bits and as im looking for what i needed i heard a man shouting, like really shouting, looked behind me but couldnt make out what was happening and carried on shopping assuming it was someone having an argument with security etc. walked around the corner towards the chemist to realise it was a grown man shouting at this poor girl who had a brand new baby in a buggy. He shouted something like “give me the bags! You are USELESS” and exited the shop leaving this poor mum in tears. Nobody not a single person had stepped in or asked if she was ok so i went over and asked if everything was ok and she needed any help
turns our baby was just a week old and the tears were streaming down her beautiful face and i felt absoloutley terrible for her. She told me He was her partner and i told her if shes not safe and needs help i can help her discreetley but she insisted it was okay :( she was so upset poor love. I said its not ok for anybody to treat you like this and she said im ok im ok and paid for her bits and left. Ive been feeling really sad ever since just thinking of another mum being treated like this by a disgusting excuse of a man when shes just had a baby. If hes treating her like this in public what does he do at home :(

i went back today at the same time hoping to bump into her again but she wasnt there

i feel so sad that not one person stepped in and told this man to back off or called the police
did i do the right thing? Feeling incredibly guilty.

Well done OP for offering help to that poor young woman.
Not your fault that she didn't take you up on your offer but I'm sure just you speaking to her will have helped her to know someone was concerned.

What absolute low life her partner is.

So glad people like you are around…what you said will hopefully sew a seed in her mind and one day she will feel strong enough to walk away.

Likely her mw will still be visiting.. They are trained to look out for abuse. Sounds like he doesn't even try to hide it. Hopefully she has a decent mw who can support her enough to help her end the relationship..

i was thinking and hoping this would happen. Baby is still so tiny so she would be hopefully having MW and HV round a lot. I cant stop thinking about her being so vulnerable
