I am asking as I am going on holiday next week and am leaving them with a friend who also has a dog, is it worth phoning the vet for advice??

prob a bit late now. Is your friend's dog vacaccinated?

singyswife · 17/06/2008 13:06

Which one?? The one they are going to stay with I could assume has been vaccinated as he goes to kennels, the one who has Kennel Cough has also been vaccinated but has it anyway.

kennel cough vaccine is a different treatment (drops up the nose) and is quite similar to our flu jab. They 'predict' which strain it will be and then make a vaccine. The reason alot of people dont vaccinate against it (and many kennels dont mind you not doing so)is because its a bit hit and miss

There was a spate of kennel cough in my village recently that went like wild fire round the dog walki usuals. The local vet prescribed child strength cough syrup & to try avoid dogs that have it as a very quick spreading ailment. No recommendations of vaccine as they do not seem to avoid dogs getting another strain.
