Is there any reason why I can’t see a persons name on the s** offender register?

So someone in our close proximity was done for being a p last year, they got a year done half and was out then put on the register….. due to being in close proximity I wanted to know the details and check they were on the register but there’s nothing, can’t view the court case details which I thought all was for public knowledge but mainly I wanted to check the list and he’s not on there anywhere…..this makes me nervous as I’m worried this person is going to turn up in a social place where kids are and if this happens I want to report it but he’s not on the list? I mean what the hell? Does anyone understand the system and understand what might be going on? Tia

The public don’t have access to the ‘sex offender register’, there isn’t a national register as such.
If you have concerns that this person maybe in contact with children ring 101.
You may be able to request a Sarah’s Law disclosure.

Oh right. I looked one up and see loads of them but not this one, this was an offender register is this someone accessing record and sharing?

You need to be looking at better reference sources. There is no public list a quick Google tells you this.

Thanks, google brought me up the uk database for offenders so I thought this was the complete list, there’s a lot on those lists so makes me very scared for our children that there is thousands more that aren’t as easily detectable.

If you mean the site Sex Offenders Database UK, it's not an official source.

It appears to be a list of court cases sent in to the privately owned site by members of the public.

Right so in the UK individuals have no access to the sex offender register.

You're best off learning the skills you need to identify risky behaviour and keep your children safe from the sex offenders that haven't been caught and therefore aren't being monitored already.

I did the Stop It Now course from the Lucy Faithfull foundation some years ago and found it really helpful.

If you already know who they are you can avoid them anyway and make sure no dc left in their care?

Trust me I won’t be going anywhere near them but due to a few factors I fear that this person may start rocking up in social places where sometimes kids are and I would be straight in the phone others don’t have as much of a back bone even in these circumstances.
