So basically other month I seen what I thought was a huge spider turns out it was a mouse. Rang up my local council couldn't do it till the 20th that would of been almost a month from my phone call. So he came out put the poison down it did literally nothing. It's still scurrying around every night making new doors in my skirting boards literal Tom and Jerry vibe doors I've plugged them up with steel wool bought some humane traps today but what else can I do? If poison don't work I'm stuffed.

Doesn't sound like mice, more like rats. Do you live in the countryside OP? No cats about?

KnickerlessParsons · 29/01/2026 23:27

Humane traps don’t work. You’ll need to get some old fashioned killer traps and bait them with peanut butter.

Snap traps with Nutella. Gets them every time. You need to put them along skirting boards and under things, hidden away. Just throw the whole thing away when caught. We use Rentokil clean kill traps.

Get a cat.

I use a humane trap to get rid of my kitchen mouse, a bucket style one. Carried mousey across the road to the large park.

Sympathies because I've had rats in my walls & loft (sigh)

Sadly, the snap traps as others have suggested. Bait with peanut butter.

IckyIck · 06/02/2026 21:15

Why are you using humane traps if you are using poison too?
Snap traps are less nasty than poison.

ScarlettSarah · 06/02/2026 21:52

Can you get a cat? We had to, when we got mice. It's worked.

IckyIck · 06/02/2026 21:56

Cats or rats here.
