Armathwaite Hall is lovely. No time to link, but should be googleable.

iamdingdong · 13/06/2008 21:24

the samling?

Remotew · 13/06/2008 21:25

Ditto Samling, Holbeck Ghyll, Low Wood all in between Windermere and Ambleside. Lots of others around to.

Armathwaite Hall.

I love the Linthwaite hotel, the restaurant is 3 Rosettes

tassisssss · 13/06/2008 21:37

thanks all!

armathwaite looks fabulous, but no availability

North Lakes Hotel in Penrith, accessible to lakes, or Lodore Falls, Keswick. Haven't stayed in either i'm afraid, just local to both.

samling.

twinsetandpearls · 14/06/2008 13:36

I ahve always wanted to go to the Linthwaite as well

twinsetandpearls · 14/06/2008 13:39

Before I leave Lancashire I plan to stay at the Inn on the Lake after having attempted Helvellyn

twinsetandpearls · 14/06/2008 13:40

I have friends who like hipping hall

shhhh · 14/06/2008 20:51

Lakeside...old fashioned in decor etc BUT such gorgeous views and surroundings, also good for lo's (if taking any..!??)

Marina · 14/06/2008 20:57

Lodore is now in local ownership and we had very warm reports from friends who stayed there recently

Oh, just saw spa needed. Armathwaite or Samling it is then I guess! Armathwaite is more secluded, Samling better placed for those non-spa moments

TillyScoutsmum · 14/06/2008 21:00

Hated Armanthwaite - really tired, musty - bit like a grandiose Fawlty Towers

I love the Drunken Duck Inn - no spa but its just outside Ambleside and there is a hotel with a spa there which you could use. Drunken has fab food, lovely rooms, great atmosphere and beautiful location

twinsetandpearls · 14/06/2008 21:59

Oh yes I have hears about food at the DRunken duck.
