We've got little white fluffy flies in our garden - WTF are they?

DD1 thinks they're fairies .

Never noticed them before - they look like tiny balls of fluff flying around, about the size of greenflies.

Is it flies or flys by the way - sorry pedants if I've got it wrong.

Did you see Dr Who last two Saturdays?

Be afraid!

DumbledoresGirl · 09/06/2008 12:49

flies

We've got them too - a whole cloud of them. I thought it was blossom coming off a tree until I saw a few were moving in the opposite direction to the others and realised the wind doesn't blow in 2 directions at the same time!

Don't know what they are though.

Flies I think

We've got them too. DP thought he'd discovered a new species at the weekend. No idea what they are

PuppyMonkey · 09/06/2008 12:50

Oh no, I missed it! Are they aliens?

Apparently the bits you see floating in dust in the sunlight are flesh eating bugs. There's just not enough of them on Earth to do too much damage.

(except for in your garden it appears).

And how lovley that DD1 thinks they're fairies.

PuppyMonkey · 09/06/2008 12:56

I think they might be fairies too actually, my dear old dad, God rest his soul, always said they were real! That's the Irish for ya!
