Looking after other people's children...

Recently, I have found myself (or rather volunteered) to help supervise other peole's children... and am at a total loss as to how to do it...

For example, I was helping out at the bouncy castle today and someone's kid managed to crash into several smaller children hurting them in the process. I got quite angry with the child, other mums did intervene, but besides reading the riot act to the offending child, how do you politely tell a mum that her kid needs timeout??

Any advice??
