Can I colour my hair whilst breast feeding?

I know this is probably a really stupid question but just want to confirm that it's OK.

Oh, and I don't mean at the same time as breastfeeding- ha ha!

Im sure its fine from a safety point of view, but i was told once that it is not good to colour ones hair when pregnant as it might not take as it usually would, might be stronger or weaker. If you are BF maybe those hormones are still around?? Might be worth checking with a hair dresser, i mean, you dont want green hair do you??
